...ah, a man in search of a path and not a destination. Thank you for that consideration.

May I assume the answer to my question is "yes"?

. . . good point Scott. Let's retract the appearance of "fact" and call it "personal conjecture."

Great story. It's what makes you, you.

Now, you may be right, and I guess that’s one way of looking at it BUT... when you say,...

"because there are no coincidences and God has created a synchronistic universe"

...is it possible to have a spiritual experience without believing the aforementioned assumption is fact?

Just curious.

Who'd a thunk you'd be facing a deamon because of a lousy golf shot. Talk about insightful! I should be so lucky as to pull one lesson from my life out of the seemingly mundane. Thank you for the pause and the reflection. I lok forward to more postings, musings. Now I need to figure out why I'm envious of Hunter...

Totally agree, Tim. Jeff, the moment of real, shining insight, to me, is when you talk back to Hunter--non-aggressively but assertively, person-to-person. That act profoundly humanized you both. All that other stuff about your anger is nice, too, but that's a story that I've heard many many times. Love the blog, guy. Thanks for letting us in on it!

Jeff...great story...I think it's cool that you went after your ball -- that's taking responsibility for your (lousy) shot. I bet a lot of golfers are afraid of Hunter or think they're being "generous" by letting him have the lost ball. (And many probably have both things going on in thier minds.) The fact of a bad shot does not require you to give up your balls (so to speak). But good for you for not taking the bait and getting on with your life.

Jeff, thanks for sharing. I love the picture of Hunter and his home. The placement at the end of the story gives the reader a new perspective. I imagine the photo being taken from a calm, reflective, and understanding point of view - not one of anger, spite, or humor. Is that correct? When I feel wrongly accused, I fight back. Subconsciously, I assume that the other person is trying to hurt or manipulate me. I react to my fear immediately - by displaying anger, challenging the other person's intelligence, and taking them down to size. This doesn't help - especially when the other person is someone I love. Usually my assumption is wrong; the other person does not want to hurt me or manipulate me. Rather, they are hurt themselves and do not know how to express their feelings or needs clearly and honestly. I would like to spend more time trying to understand the other person's intentions before reacting.

I can so relate to wanting to fight for what is rightfully mine, and yet I think letting Hunter have the ball seems the right thing to do. That "kernel of truth" quote just hits you between the eyes, doesn't it?
