It feels very final and drastic, and we are so conditioned to "get along" with others that making a clean break is difficult. Seeing others as "toxic" makes the question a bit more serious though, in that it implies the other may be not just annoying, but harming me. Ignoring has always worked for me but I wonder if thst doesn't really just disrespect everyone involved.
