This site is all about finding a spiritual path. Whether it’s in the blog or interviews with musicians, writers and notables, hopefully this can be a place where you connect with your spirit and maybe even God. The concept of a spiritual path is helpful because it sees our lives as one continuous ever-evolving journey rather than a static series of rules to follow. And on this journey certain things are useful and others are not: Honesty, finding out who we are, dealing with our addictive and dependent sides, meditation . . . these are all unquestionably helpful. Trying to look good, praying for problems to be resolved without taking responsibility for our parts, denial of feelings to avoid facing the past . . . these are obviously toxic.

There are new guides for us cropping up all the time and hopefully you will be part of the process through your own experience and comments. Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Bill W. (founder of AA), have taught me more about the path than anyone else and will be frequently mentioned here as well as in a new book that I hope to have published soon.

Having been “saved” at the age of 16, I was sure about the traditional church and it’s answers for a troubled world. By 27 my wife ran off with my best friend, had a child with him and left me to ask what went wrong. I tried to dig my heels in and run to the church for comfort, but instead found a lot of denial and shallow answers regarding my divorce. I was forced to ask the hard questions about who I was and what had formed me. It was on this journey that Jung, Campbell and Bill W. came to my aid with real answers to things like the dark side, myth, addiction, dependency, all elements of the soul that haunted me. Rather than feeling like the church was misinformed, I saw it more as a naive form of reaching out to God. It had its place in getting me out of a troubled childhood, but was weak and powerless to help me become a man.

As the site progresses, we hope to hear from you, get your comments, and notify us of any good links to follow up on.

Cheers!
